The Interrupters

When talking about The Interrupters, a band from Los Angeles, forget labels like “SoCal punk rock” or “next-gen ska.” A concert by The Interrupters feels more like a ceremony without religious icons—replaced instead by mirrors reflecting both the band and the crowd as one. Fueled by the boundless energy of Aimee Interrupter and the Bivona brothers, their shows blend dance parties, cardio sessions, and group therapy. There’s joy, strength in unity, and an unbreakable spirit facing life’s challenges.
Formed in 2011 in Los Angeles, the band features Kevin Bivona on guitar, his twin brothers Justin (bass) and Jesse (drums), all inspired by the ’90s punk revival and the socially conscious ’80s 2 Tone ska movement. Before meeting Aimee in 2009, the Bivona brothers were active in Tim Timebomb And Friends, Tim Armstrong’s (Rancid co-founder) project, supporting him in studio and on tour. Their meeting with Aimee sparked a unique sonic and personal chemistry that gave birth to The Interrupters.
Armstrong has since become their mentor and producer, almost like a “fifth Interrupter,” guiding them with care and expertise.
Their self-titled debut album, released in 2014 on Hellcat (Armstrong’s imprint at Epitaph Records), instantly impressed with punchy songs, Aimee’s radiant charisma, and electrifying stage presence. They followed up with two acclaimed albums: Say It Out Loud (2016) and the powerful Fight The Good Fight (2018).
Their reputation was also built on relentless touring, including playing the Vans Warped Tour and opening for big names like Rancid, Bad Religion, and Green Day. The Interrupters perfectly blend ska punk heritage with an irresistible modern energy.
