King Thief

King Thief, a true powerhouse of fast and fiery punk rock, was born in 2019 as a musical rallying cry for Edmonton’s underground scene. The band honed their honest and melodic approach to dirty, saturated rock ‘n’ roll during the pandemic lockdowns, blending post-hardcore and modern punk influences with touches of ’70s arena rock.
Quickly noticed for their energy and technical virtuosity, King Thief is renowned for their explosive and captivating live performances — intense, raw, and sharply focused. Eric Nielson’s deep, raspy vocals, often grounded in social justice themes, are backed by a relentless rhythm section featuring Darren Chewka’s melodic drumming (Teenage Bottlerocket, Old Wives) and Nick Kouremenos’s masterful bass playing (This is a Standoff, Fire Next Time, Vargouille).
Shawn Moncrieff (Choke) and Ryan Podlubny (ex-The Fullblast), both known for their innovative and subtle guitar work, haunt listeners with bold rhythmic chords and intertwined, soaring melodic lines. If there’s one thing to remember, it’s that King Thief embraces a truly sincere and original artistic approach.
The band recently completed their first full-length album, released on Thousand Islands Records in Canada, Disconnect Disconnect Records in the UK, and distributed in Europe by Bearded Punk Records.
