Cross Dog
Cross Dog is a loud, experimental, bass-driven hardcore punk band from Peterborough, Ontario. Their music is played at ear-splitting volume, yet the band’s socially conscious message cuts through the noise with uncompromising clarity.
Formed in 2013, Cross Dog made a deliberate choice to forgo a guitarist, without losing any of its impact. Embodying the power of the “rule of three,” Tracy A (vocals), Mark Rand (bass), and Mikey Reid (drums) generate a heightened energy that far exceeds the apparent limits of their lineup. The rhythms hit hard, the riffs are massive, and the overall sound delivers a raw force greater than the sum of its parts. The four-string distorted bass provides the perfect foundation for Tracy’s fierce and provocative vocals.
Through the band, she delivers a resolutely feminist, uncompromising message, fueled by anger and performed live with an intensity that demands the audience’s full attention. From smoky basements to major festival stages, Cross Dog has shared the bill with an impressive roster of legends such as The Misfits, Anti-Flag, Metz, Cancer Bats, Good Riddance, War on Women, Fucked Up, Dayglo Abortions, and many more.
The band is currently in the studio preparing their 2024 release on Stomp Records with producer Scott Middleton, former guitarist of Cancer Bats.
