Dogo Suicide
With the idea that every concert could be the last — a band called Dogo Suicide has every reason in the world to die prematurely — the Quebec noise rock trio quickly gained attention both for its frenzied live performances and for the smell of burning plastic that lingers in venues after they leave the stage. Legend has it that their bass amps are allergic to the malicious power chords played by their bassist.
While drawing inspiration from the atmosphere of the disreputable taverns of Quebec City’s lower town, the trio enjoys navigating the many influences of its members while playfully and impetuously bending punk conventions. Critics, journalists, and podcasters have always struggled to categorize Dogo Suicide’s musical genre. Here is finally an enlightened answer: post-everything, but overall still pretty punk.
Honorable mention goes to the kind reviewer who once said that “reducing them to a punk band would be equivalent to claiming that Mr. Puffs are just a dessert.” Dogo Suicide has embraced its hyperactive tendencies since the release of its first EP, “Sexe pour les yeux,” in September 2021. Since then, the young trio has performed live more than 100 times and released three EPs, all of which were nominated at the Gala alternatif de la Musique indépendante Québécoise.
TRISTESSE LUCRATIVE, their first full-length album, was released on November 7, 2025, on Disques Soluté.
