GFK

In a genre often filled with intense machismo and meaningless lyrics, GFK stands out with something unique — a nonstop mix of hardcore and metal that intelligently tackles relevant issues for anyone living under the downward spiral of neoliberalism, capitalism, and globalization.
Formed in 1996, GFK spent their early years touring their home province of Quebec, building a dedicated and passionate fanbase while growing stronger as a band. In 2000, they released their first album The Social Responsibility Theory on the Quebec label New Horizon, followed in 2002 by In Defence of Politics. Their album If Liberty Isn’t Given, It Should Be Taken is arguably their best work to date, blending sharp guitar sounds, cutting vocals, a bass drum like a machine gun, and passionate lyrics delivered with the unique spirit only five guys from La Belle Province can provide.
GFK toured extensively in Europe alongside bands like Snapcase, Darkest Hour, and Boysetsfire, and crossed Canada three times, playing shows with The End and Alexisonfire. They also toured the U.S. East Coast in April 2004, including a performance at MacRock 2004 alongside Between The Buried and Me. They planned to hit the road again to promote the release of the EP Thanatopolicy with shows in Canada (March 2007) and Europe (October 2007).
